The Future of Healthcare Training Will Be Built Together, Not Alone
A reflection on the i3 Simulations and IMMAST collaboration, and how immersive, adaptive VR simulation is reshaping clinical training through scalable, data-driven, team-based practice.
IMMAST Agreement

Some collaborations feel transactional. Others feel inevitable. This collaboration with IMMAST is grounded in shared purpose, not just formalities.

Healthcare training is under real pressure today, not because traditional methods have failed, but because the world around us is changing faster than ever. Clinical exposure is different, time pressures are higher, and expectations around safety, consistency, and scale have never been greater. Technology, when applied thoughtfully, helps strengthen what already works rather than replace it.

This is the philosophy that brought i3 Simulations and IMMAST together.

A Shared Mission Rooted in Real Healthcare Needs

Dr Suchitra Bindoria, Vice President of IMMAST and an experienced gynaecologist, often reflects on how fortunate she and her peers were to train in large institutions with direct patient exposure. At the same time, she highlights a reality many clinicians recognise. Even with strong clinical exposure, there wasn’t always enough structured time to practise protocols, rehearse responses, or train others systematically.

IMMAST was founded to address exactly this challenge. Deliver high quality hands-on training for healthcare professionals. But as Dr Suchitra rightly says, even the best physical training centres alone are still a drop in the ocean compared to the global need.

Technology changes that equation. It improves access, affordability, and ultimately patient outcomes by allowing clinicians to practise repeatedly, safely, and at scale.

Today, with immersive simulation platforms like those developed by i3, clinicians can rehearse real world scenarios, refine protocols, and build muscle memory before they ever face a critical situation in practice. This shift is profound.

Technology Is Only Powerful When It Is Adopted

One of the biggest misconceptions in health tech is that innovation ends at product launch. But at i3, we believe, this is where the real work begins.

Adoption barriers are super real! Some clinicians embrace new tools quickly. Others understandably hesitate. This is why partnerships with trusted institutions like IMMAST matter so much. They bridge credibility gaps, contextualise technology within real clinical workflows, and help ensure new tools become second nature rather than optional extras.

That’s also why timing of innovation matters. At i3, we design technology with the future in mind, but introducing everything at once rarely works. Readiness matters, and partners embedded in clinical education help us guide when the industry is ready to absorb and benefit from it.

Simulation Is Becoming Essential, Not Optional

Dr Suchitra puts it very clearly. If simulation is not yet part of everyday clinical training everywhere, it soon needs to be.

This is especially true in emergency medicine, paediatrics, and critical care. These are areas where clinicians face low frequency but high stakes situations. Opportunities to practise on real patients are limited, yet preparedness can be lifesaving.

i3’s early work in resuscitation simulations, supported by global partners including Meta and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles showed the impact of immersive single-user training. But the real breakthrough came when we expanded into multi-user simulations, thanks to The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre. Entire clinical teams practising together, role playing scenarios, making decisions collectively, and receiving real-time AI-guided feedback.

That combination of teamwork rehearsal, data-driven insight, and repeated safe practice is transforming how preparedness is built.

Cutting Through the Noise in a Crowded Tech Landscape

Healthcare technology is booming. New companies emerge almost weekly. Many bring exciting innovation while some add noise. Healthcare providers often struggle to distinguish between the two.

This is where building an eco-system with instituitions like IMMAST become critical who are deeply respected for quality and clinical rigour and play a vital role in helping filter what truly adds value.

As Dr Suchitra often emphasises, partnership decisions at IMMAST are guided by shared vision, commitment, and a willingness to do the hard work alongside clinicians. I am proud she sees those qualities in i3. For us, that recognition matters as much as any commercial milestone.

Why This Partnership Matters Personally

Over the years, we’ve had the opportunity to work across diverse healthcare ecosystems, from North America and Europe to the UK NHS, Singapore with SingHealth, and more recently the UAE. What consistently stands out is that immersive simulation creates the most value when it’s localised thoughtfully to clinical workflows, training cultures, and regional needs.

Bringing that experience to India was exciting, but honestly, also slightly nerve-wracking. India has phenomenal clinical talent and a rapidly evolving healthcare, so finding the right partner, one that truly prioritises training quality and real outcomes, was critical.

IMMAST stood out very quickly. Their commitment to rigorous training, openness to innovation, and grounded clinical perspective felt like a natural fit with how we approach healthcare simulation globally.

Our Mumbai test bench at IMMAST is just the start. It gives us a chance to localise, learn, and scale immersive simulation in a way that genuinely works for clinicians here, rather than simply importing solutions from elsewhere.

Clinicians Should Not Fear Technology

Technology does not replace clinicians. It empowers them. The goal is not complexity. It is confidence. At i3, our focus is to make immersive simulation intuitive, accessible, and supportive so clinicians can adopt it naturally. When technology feels like a second skin rather than an added burden, real transformation happens.

Looking Ahead

As Dr Suchitra aptly said during our recent conversation, this collaboration feels like a must happen for the greater good. I could not agree more. Virtual simulations are here to stay. But their true impact will only be realised through thoughtful partnerships, shared vision, and sustained commitment from both technology innovators and clinical leaders.

i3 can bring powerful technology to the table but IMMAST brings deep clinical expertise, trust, and reach. Together, that combination can help prepare healthcare professionals better, faster, and more safely than ever before.

And ultimately, that means better care for patients everywhere.
