i3 Simulations recently participated in the ST1/2 Obstetrics and Gynaecology simulation day at Oxford Hospitals Education Centre (OxHEC) at John Radcliffe Hospital, where we showcased our cutting-edge Resuscitation VR for Obstetrics simulation. This immersive virtual reality simulation allows teams of four to experience and master critical resuscitation skills for various obstetric emergencies, such as maternal collapse, postpartum haemorrhage, and eclampsia, in a safe and repeatable environment.
Developed in collaboration with clinical experts from Oxford University Hospitals’ NHS Foundation Trust, including i3 Champion Dr. Ruth Houlden, Dr. Sally Shiels, Dr. Dawn Wilkinson, and Dr. Geet Sharma, Resuscitation VR for Obstetrics helps clinicians develop the crucial ability to maintain composure and focus when responding to obstetric crises. By practicing urgent simulations in VR, clinicians learn to calmly assess situations, employ proper protocols, and execute lifesaving techniques even under extreme duress.
The feedback from trainees was overwhelmingly positive, with many impressed by the fidelity, accuracy, and immersion of Resuscitation VR for Obstetrics. One ST2 Obstetrics and Gynaecology trainee remarked, “I forgot I was in a simulation, it felt just like being on the emergency ward with my colleagues”.
We are thrilled to announce that we will be returning to OUH in the near future for their next simulation training day, as we gear up for the full release of Resuscitation VR for Obstetrics in Q3.
