Our team recently visited the Department of Medicine at the University of Padua to advance our collaboration focused on transforming clinical education with virtual reality.
i3 Simulations’ Research Manager TJ Matthews and Chief Technology Officer Tom Dolby held productive meetings to discuss current training challenges faced by various departments and explore how our immersive VR solutions can upskill staff.
Key focus areas included:
- Localisation of VR training content into Italian to increase accessibility
- New emergency medicine VR scenarios tailored to protocols and available resources in Italy
- VR soft skills communication modules for better teamwork and patient interaction
- Concepts for applying VR and artificial intelligence to streamline surgical planning
The trip culminated in an illuminating roundtable session with hospital staff from areas like cardiology, surgery, diagnostics, nursing, and administration. Participants openly shared insights into existing pain points with medical training and ideas for impactful VR applications to enhance competencies hospital-wide.
Our team gained invaluable perspective on the University Hospital of Padua’s needs that will directly shape future VR developments aimed at improving patient care through targeted education. Collaborating directly with global partners on the frontlines doing this important work fuels our company’s innovation.
We want to thank all the University Hospital staff for welcoming us and engaging so actively during our visit. It’s partnerships like this driving pioneering use cases and exploration into how emerging technologies can augment clinical skills acquisition across specialities.
