At i3 Simulations, we’re proud to see our work contributing to the expansion of knowledge in the domain of clinical simulation and medical training. In this spirit, we’re thrilled to announce the publication of a new book chapter featuring Resuscitation VR, our simulation platform for emergency medicine training.
Titled “Resuscitation VR: Implementing the Future of Emergency Medicine Training” and authored by TJ Matthews, our Research Manager, the chapter appears in the recent book “XR-Metaverse Cases: Business Application of AR, VR, XR and Metaverse“. Edited by Professors Timothy Jung and M. Claudia tom Dieck of Manchester Metropolitan University, the book and our chapter have been published by Springer, a leading global scientific publisher.
The book offers a comprehensive look at the current state of the art in AR, VR, XR, and metaverse technologies, demonstrating their commercial potential across a variety of sectors. From healthcare and education to tourism and fashion, the work sheds light on the transformative impact these technologies can have on the business landscape.
Our chapter focuses on the innovative use of VR in emergency medicine training. As a proven simulation platform, Resuscitation VR is now being used globally by doctors as a mandatory curriculum module. The goal is to train medical residents in diagnosing and resolving emergency medical events in a high-pressure, simulated environment. The platform is a result of close collaboration with medical experts and is backed by comprehensive research.
The chapter delves into the training challenges that inspired the development of Resuscitation VR and discusses the platform’s current and future research and developments. It provides an informative case study for those interested in the practical implementation of VR in medical training and the tangible benefits this technology offers.
This publication underscores the significant strides VR is making in medical education and training, particularly in areas like emergency medicine where the pressure is high, and the stakes are critical. It affirms our commitment at i3 Simulations to continually push the boundaries of technology to deliver training solutions that can truly make a difference in healthcare.
We hope that this book chapter will inspire more exploration, innovation, and conversation about the role of VR, AR, XR, and metaverse technologies in reshaping the future of various industries, especially healthcare.
