This pediatric emergency simulation prepares childcare learners to recognise and manage an unresponsive, non-breathing child requiring basic life support. Learners encounter a lifeless child in a nursery setting and must direct their colleague to follow Pediatric BLS protocols (Resuscitation Council 2021) to try to resuscitate the child before paramedics arrive.
Learners must call emergency services, check the child, perform CPR, utilise an AED, and administer any available medications or equipment.
